Create Beautiful Reminders of Love by Hanging a Chalkboard on Your Wall

Buying a house is easy, making a home is hard. Okay, well, maybe buying  a home isn't easy! But once it's done, it's done. You sign the contract and that's it. You can move into the house and fill it with stuff and it will always be just this house you bought. But you don't want that. You want a home. You want a space that feels warm and safe for you and your family. That takes work and a lot of people never really do it because they feel overwhelmed by the process.

Listen, it's not as overwhelming as you think. It can be as easy as writing down a few words. Through words, you can convey the story of your family's heart and soul. For my home, I chose a prayer that has a special meaning for me, but you can do anything you want. Write a quote from a book, a film, a song, or adorable quotes from your kids... maybe even some inside family jokes. Find a phrase that speaks to you and record it.

It will pop on any wall color and there's something about chalkboards that will always make us feel nostalgic. Chalkboards already have a meaningful element before you ever put words on them.

What I really love is how interactive they are - and how inexpensive! A fun way to spice it up is to find a font that you like and experiment with the title.  Have fun! Use a variety of colors and don't be afraid to get creative or silly.  If you mess up, NO BIG DEAL.  There are no uncorrectable mistakes in chalk. 

Chalkboards look great placed in areas where you enter or spend a lot of time sitting.  So entryways are a natural fit.  Kitchens and dining rooms are also great because you can write fun messages for your guests to discover. To make your dinner party really interactive, consider writing something that would be a great conversation starter for everyone to chat about during the meal.
